Estrella & Susana Baca

Estrella Vivanco-Stevenson had the pleasure to attend Susana Baca's concert at Camden Jazz Café in London, last May.  Estrella shares her review:

The opening act was Lokandes, the London based band that fuses rhythms from the Andes with Salsa, Cumbia and Reggaeton making the crowds dance and get into the Latin spirit. This group comprises musicians from Peru, Bolivia, China, France and Spain.

After a long wait, Susana Baca made her appearance showing her diva status and starting with a very soft song.  She presented her most recent work from her new CD. The Grammy award winner was supported by three Peruvian musicians.  Her repertoire included music from her native country, mainly from her Afro-Peruvian roots with Lando songs and lyrics taken from poems and traditional tales from the Peruvian coast.

In the second part, Susana showed an international side with songs from Brazil, Spain, Colombia, Venezuela and New Orleans. Overall, this was a great show, delivered by one of the most representatives and international artists from Peru with an excellent opening act ! Estrella
